Serge Fourcade was born in 1974, a good half-marathon’s distance from Paris. He holds a PhD in fairy tales, a fitting credential for someone drawn to the strange, the symbolic, and the timeless. By day, he has worked in environmental conservation and now serves the blindfolded lady with the scales. By night, he composes music in solitude, cloaked in the mist of slumbering darkness.
His creative universe blends folklore, literature, and sonic experimentation. He’s captivated by the Eurovision Song Contest and the way music can be both theatrical and deeply personal. This marks his third entry in the Home Composed Song Contest.
His instrumental Kunstschutz borrows its title from the historical term for the protection of art during wartime. Here, the idea is transformed not into a military protocol, but into a poetic act of resistance. The piece draws from the French passion for baroque ornamentation, looping motifs, and the hypnotic elegance of perpetual motion, where repetition unveils meaning, and structure becomes emotion.
Kunstschutz is a tribute to fragile things that endure. It’s not a call to arms — it’s a call to listen.
