Hej! Min tacksamhet över att vara med i Home Composed Song Contest växer för varje år. Att som amatör få delta i HCSC oavsett vilken nivå man är på och kunna dela med sig av musiken man skapar, det är tacksamhet! Sakta har det växt fram vad det är för slags musik jag vill göra.
För mig är musik konst, en tavla som målas med toner i olika former. Dessa toner skapar olika färgningar som till slut blir ett stycke där olika känslor och sinnesstämningar speglas. Att från början till slut skapa ett stycke men under tidens gång aldrig veta vad som skall komma eller var det slutar, är en process som som är både spännande och utmanande…Det är min lilla värld…….det är jag…… Vanligtvis sjunger jag allt acapella, men i år har jag utmanat mig själv och lagt till musik…hm… eller ja stämmor från musikprogrammet. Det har varit fantastiskt kul att leka med olika harmonier, något jag kommer att förfina och jobba med mera framöver.
”Strength” har under ett års tid sakta växt fram. Det började med att jag var riktigt arg en gång, gick ner till studion och spelade in några ordentliga rop. Sedan kom olika melodislingor till mig och dessa placerade jag på olika ställen i sången, mittenpartiet kom först. Melodislingorna tonsatte jag med stråkar, men hade ingen som helst aning om i vilken ordning de olika slingorna skulle placeras. Texten kom till mig i en enda röra, huller om buller, men såg snart ett mönster i hur det skulle vara. Då insåg jag att de slingor jag lagt skulle vara början på en kör och texten skulle få en egen melodi. Stråkarna byttes ut mot dam/herrstämmor….nåväl konstgjorda, men ändå… När jag väl lagt sången började ett jättearbete med att få till stämmor, ibland upp till sex- sju stycken samtidigt, få de precist synkade med varann och tighta med sången….början och slutet kom sist.
På denna resan har jag lärt mig jättemycket och redan nu vet jag hur jag kan förfina, främst stämmorna, till nästa projekt. Väljer ändå att skicka denna ”Strength” precis som den är. Framöver kommer jag säkerligen att fixa till låten, men för nu så får det vara så här….Är stolt över vad jag skapat, det räcker för mig.
För att låten ska komma till sin fulla rätt, är det viktigt att lyssna i stereobild, då ljuden på många ställen kommer ifrån olika håll. Jag önskar ALLA som deltar i HCSC lycka till och det ska bli kul att lyssna på alla bidragen, rösta och slutligen se den spännande finalen. Ta hand om Er! Eva-Karin
Each time I get to participate in HomeComposed Song Contest I feel
more and more thankful of the fact that I’m able to participate at all.
To participate, as an amateur, in HCSC regardless of your level and
share the music that you create, that’s pure gratitude.
Slowly it has become clear to me what kind of music I want to create.
To me music is a piece of art, a painting created through notes and
sounds in various shapes. These sounds create various shades of
colours that in the end combine into a piece where different feelings
and states of mind are mirrored.
To create a piece, from the beginning to the end, without knowing,
throughout the period of creation, what will come or where it will end
is a process that’s both exiting and challenging. . . . . That’s my little
world. . . . . That’s me. . . . . . .
Usually I sing acapella (without instruments), but this year I’ve
challenged myself and added instruments – or, well, chords and
melodies using virtual midi instruments. It’s been incredibly fun
experimenting with different harmonies, a skill I hope to develop and
improve in order to use more in the future.
“Strength” has slowly and gradually formed over the year. It all
started with me going down into the studio while being very angry. I
recorded a bunch of cries. Then suddenly melody lines were granted
me, and those melody lines I placed in various positions starting with
the middle part. I used keyboard strings to find chords to the different
melody lines, but I had no clue whatsoever what order to use. The
lyrics arrived in a complete mess, but soon I found a pattern for the
different lines. At that point I realised that the melody lines that I
already had would be the foundations for a choir and that the lyrics
required a different melody. The strings were replaced by male and
female voices – well, virtual midi voices, but still…
Once I had recorded the lyrics there was a massive work recording
harmonies, sometimes as many as six or seven different harmony
lines simultaneously, get them in sync and tight enough with the lead
vocals. The beginning and the end were the last parts created.
On this journey I’ve learnt loads, and I already know what I’m able to
improve for the next project – the harmonies. Nonetheless I choose to
send this “Strength” just the way it is. In the future I’ll most likely
improve the song, but right now this is what it is. I’m proud of what
I’ve created – it’s enough for me.
In order to experience the song properly you need to listen to it in
stereo (using stereo phones or proper stereo speakers), as the sounds
frequently come from different positions.
I wish EVERYONE who participates in HCSC the best of luck, and I’m
looking forward to listening to all the entries, cast my votes and in the
end watch the exciting final.
